If you've read some of my other posts, you know that I painted my bathroom linoleum a few months back. I did the same thing here BUT I used different products because this is a bathroom, mudroom, and laundry room and it gets much more traffic. After doing a ton of research on an alternative to the chalk paint that some of you were hesitant to use, I decided to try Porch & Floor paint. It went on easily, the only downside to this alternative was longer dry times between coats.
This is the paint I used this time around.
I bought two quarts of this- one in
White Dove and one in Kendall Charcoal.
It was very easy to use, had low
VOCs, and was easy to clean up.
It was really cute, huh? Sure, it could have been worse but between the floor (which had stains all over it from who knows what) and the blue paint on the walls, it felt very out of place in the rest of our neutral, woods and whites, home.
I started by cleaning the floors thoroughly; first I swept, then I wiped them down with TSP, and then I mopped. Once that was done, I started painting. I used the color "Kendall Charcoal" for the base. I put together a couple videos to show you guys how the stenciling is done because I am a very visual learner and thought some of you might be too. You'll be amazed at how simple and easy it really is!
You can purchase the Augusta Tile Stencil that I used in the videos below here!
I also did a faux subway tile pattern on the back wall. You can read that post here! I planned on doing these posts together but it was too long so I had to break it up!
